Is Your Thyroid Under Active?
Low thyroid function is one of the most common causes of weight gain and it is frequently undiagnosed.
The signs of an low thyroid are:
- Weight Gain
- Fatigue
- Memory Loss
- Dry Skin
- Dry Hair
- Hair Loss
- Low Body Temperature
- Puffy Eyes
- Eye Brow loss (lateral third)
These symptoms are a good clue to what is going on but more information is needed. Low thyroid can be caused other conditions such as immune disease, nutrient deficiency, and even allergic conditions. Low thyroid is often missed by doctors. The most common reason for the under diagnosis is that practitioners do not do all of the necessary thyroid function tests. Typically a patient will come in to us with just one or two of the thyroid function tests but up to six may be necessary to make the diagnosis. A complete health history, examination and a comprehensive lab panel are necessary to find the real cause of low thyroid function.

I am taking 100 mg if levoxthoxime already. I need to drop 15 pounds and it is so hard. What is the best diet plan for under active thyroid patients
Diet depends on many factors including your current weight, how much you exercise and other factors such as blood type. The most common problem for those with under active thyroids is not getting sufficient protein. Foods that contain soy or are in the cabbage family can have an adverse effect on thyroid function.
We also frequently find that patients may be under treated medically. In other words, the medicine that they are prescribed is not enough. Please feel free to give us a call and come in for a consultation.

I’m a 47 year old female never had problems with my thyroid. My weight went from 155 to currently 213. Went to Drs. Diagnosed with hypothyroidism, I currently take 100mg of synthroid daily. Still having the same symptoms that I was having before starting medication and cannot loose any weight. Please help me!
Sometimes there are other factors besides the T4 which is what the synthroid is supposed to correct. If you are not converting T4 into T3, further action needs to be taken. Feel free to call us to set up a no charge consultation to see if we can help to get you back to normal function.
How much did you guy charge for a consultation?
We offer an initial no-cost consultation to see if we are a good match for each other. Call our office at 704-837-2420 or use the link on this page.
I’m on 88 mcg and my last lab test results was T4=1.42 and TSH=.459. Does that seem unusual?
Perhaps. What other tests on your thyroid have been done?
My comment is that I don’t eat much and I continue to gain weight and my hair is thining from what I read about the symptoms I can relate to all of the and I need help
I suggest that you give us a call and set up a 15 minute consult. That way I can get some more information about your symptoms and history. Then I can let you know if we can help your situation. If I don’t feel that I can, I can direct you to someone who would be a good match for you. We do not charge for these consults.

I am about to be 49 this weekend.. I haven’t been on a scale in over 20 years .. I am a size 10 now for 15 years after making major changes in my diet .. I was a competive swimmer throughout my youth and young adult life.. Al though I was never fat I appeared to look big boned lol.. But during those years I never took nutrition seriously and would starve to drop pounds.. 15 years ago I was tired all the time.. Bloated .. And was sick of not feeling well.. A friend of mine introduced me to the Atkins lifestyle.. It has been a God send to me… I eat high protein foods. Meat.. Cheeses .. Full fat dressings .. Greens .. Getting rid of sugar and processed foods.. Pasta, rice, corn , potatoes etc.. fast food were poisioning my metabolism and destroying my health and beauty .. My hair wasn’t growing.. My skin was dry and I had no energy and was depressed and disguisted with myself .. Now I am so healthy and feeling so good at my age.. However now I am having some hormonal issuses now in regards to my period . I will go months without one thinking that I have hit the jack pot only to start bleeding unexpectantly.. It could be very light .. And then a few months later it would be very painful I would pass a lot of clots …, this has been going on for several years now.. Not sure if this has anything at all to do with my thyroid but would ask.. Thanks

Hi- I am 64 and for the last 6 – 7 years I have lost the half of each eyebrow as well as pubic hair and the hair on top and sides are getting so thin now. My nails have huge ridges and are brittle. I have high blood pressure, cholesterol and depression which I am on medicine for. I have been heavy for a few years but changed the way I ate and now I am 130 and 5’3. Does any of this sound like thyroid issues?
It certainly could. I suggest that you come into the office and do a no-charge 15 minute consultation to discuss. If you have any lab reports, bring those so we can see what has been done already. You can reach us at 704-837-2420.

Main stream medicine treats the thyroid only!
I am so glad there are those, such as yourself, that know that it is a matter of so much more than just the thyroid itself!
As you know, adrenals play a huge role in all this, as well as so many other “factors”!
Keep up the good work!
