Detoxing at home

Even when we are not under quarantine, detoxing procedures at home can be beneficial. The most important procedure is always to avoid any obvious toxins from food or household products. Food additives, dyes, preservatives and artificial sweeteners are the most common. Even your drinking water can contain chemicals that can disrupt your body’s chemistry! Also look for chemicals that you may be putting on your body from soaps, shampoo, deodorants, toothpaste and cosmetics. Cleaning products are a huge source of toxins so choose those carefully.

Here is my personal protocol for home detoxification:

  • Drink clean water. I suggest dividing your weight by two and drink that many ounces of water each day. If you weigh 150 lbs. drink 75 ounces of water. The water should be filtered - I drink reverse osmosis water.

  • Every day dry brush your skin to stimulate lymphatic flow. Use a bath brush to brush your entire body in a direction aiming toward your heart. A minute or two should be plenty of time.

  • Two days each week take a 20 minute bath with Epsom salts and baking soda. In a standard tub a cup of each is best and if your tub is larger use more. After the bath rinse off in the shower briefly to wash the salt away. This bath aids detoxification by counteracting the effects of radiation from sources such as x-ray, cancer treatment, fallout from the atmosphere, television, computers, etc.

  • Two days each week take a 20 minute bath with apple cider vinegar. This bath is used as a quick way to restore the acid-alkaline balance in the body. It also helps eliminate excess uric acid in the body and its soothing to joints that suffer from arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, gout and heavy metal toxicity.  After the bath rinse off in the shower briefly to wash the vinegar away.
